Thrify Friday....

Came across this stained glass piece for $2.00.

A sewing box, which I'll use as an extra to carry around with me. Doesnt look like it was even used inside. Great shape. Couldn't pass it up for $1.50.

Some Easter finds! All for $2.00! Each egg was .25 cents and the other pieces were .50 cents. I also picked up a couple of table runners, but they are already in the wash, so I couldn't get a picture. Got 2 of them for $2.00

I just went to one shop today. It was just to nice of a day to be inside. The snow is melting and we are going into the 50's this weekend. Spring is just around the corner.

Have a good day!

Chalk one up for the weatherman....

He was right. We did get around a foot or more in snow. Couldn't believe it. Started around 6:30 Sunday night. Didn't stop till around 1:00 yesterday afternoon. That was the most we've gotten in years. Thankfully DH was home to help with the cleaning out. The kids were thrilled, 2 snow days from this storm. They are hoping for another day tomorrow, which I'm not. Get them back to school! :)

Now we are off to go sledding, have a good day!

Woke up to snow this morning. Very surprised, the weather man never said anything about it. He did say we were getting it Sunday night into Monday. Something like 5-9 inches. Guessing that's another storm. Who knows? We'll see in the morning. Need to go shovel some. ( I also need to check my camera, not liking this picture)

Have a good day!

Another week come and gone. Seems to fly by lately. The weather seems to be wanting to get warm. But one warm day, means many cold to follow. Suppose to get some rain and snow mix this weekend. Which is fine with me. I love a reason to stay in the house. Have a bunch of projects to get started on. Now with Spring right around the corner and some new swaps I've joined. Good weekend to get started.

While I was out and about, running errands this week. I hit the thrift shop. My great find for this week. A chair!

Found it for a $1.00. Handyman special! As soon as I walked into the shop, it looked right at me. I knew I just had to get it, I pictured a bright red chair with a beautiful flower pot in the seat. Something to just pop outside. I feel very lucky to come upon this chair. :)

I also feel very lucky to come across some great fabric. Couldn't pass it up. .50 for each piece. When I measured it, came out to 4.5 yards! What a deal! I guess, these will be two of my projects for the weekend. Working on the chair and seeing what I can do with the fabric.

Off to start my day, have a good one!

What a week. So glad it's over. You ever have one of those weeks? The week that you just don't think would end. The week that everything just seems to be going wrong. The week that just goes by so slow. Well I've have and now that Saturday is here. I'm so happy. I don't have anywhere to go or do. Today is a home day. Some baking and cooking, cleaning up around here. Maybe some sewing. Today is a day that I'm just going to do what I want to do. There are few days around here like that. So today, I'm taking advantage of it.

Here is to having a good day!

It's that time again to hop on the train. Lisa is our wonderful host for the One World-One Heart event. It is a blog-wide giveaway event. The original idea behind this was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. Last year I participated and made some wonderful friends. This year, the participants are way over 500 already!
Because of all the participants. Instead of one prize, I will be having 3 prizes!
Prize #1 will be......a pattern for a table runner. And of course some sweets to help you work on it.

Prize #2 will be......

A pattern for a "Winter Wonderland" wall hanging. Plus some sweets.

Prize #3.........

A pattern for a beautiful "Flowering Vines" quilt. Plus, don't forget the candy!

To enter, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. Everyone is welcome to enter, just be sure your comment takes me back to your blog. If you are not a blogger, than make sure to leave me your email address so I can contact you. On February 13th I will draw the winners.

Good Luck !!

Brrrrr! It's cold outside. Bundle up and make sure your hat and mittens are on. We are expecting some snow. Yeah! Maybe the little one will be able to use that snowball maker. lol Gosh, whatever happened to just putting a ball together and throwing?? Pick it up and pack it. Did you see the igloo maker ? We dug a hole in a mound of snow. What about those nice sleds, some are just beautiful? I remember having a Flyer, or sometimes used that brown box. We were outside all day. Didn't care how wet our gloves were. Didn't care that you we were cold to the bone. The best part was the hot chocolate when we came in. MMMM! Gee, life was good.

Stay Warm!

Finally getting back onto this computer after it being in the shop for a couple of weeks. Last Christmas the same thing. Thankfully, its up and working. While I didn't have it, got much needed work done around the house. You can say, I cleaned out 2008 and 2009 is looking good. Scrubbed, scoured and cleaned from top to bottom. Figured, once I got the computer back, I wouldn't be doing anything around the house. Does that happen to you? Sometimes I get glued to this machine.

I received some ornaments this week. One was postmarked 12/14. I have one that went out overseas before Christmas and still hasn't gotten there. You pay so much for what. Its the luck of the draw, maybe it gets there, maybe it doesn't. Last year, the in-law Christmas packages didn't arrive till Feb. They didn't put any tracking or insurance, who knows where they were.

One of the packages I received was from Andie. My snowman swap partner. What a wonderful package she sent. She made the sign herself from a tile. Very nice! My son took the book and the snowman blanket. Says he wont give them up. And we've been enjoying the different teas. Thank so much Andie, it was a pleasure to swap with you.

Off I go to start my day. Suppose to get some snow tomorrow, so need to go food shopping.

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.

Wishing you and yours,
a happy and healthy holiday.
Merry Christmas!

4 more days till Christmas! Yikes! How fast it went this year. Still have shopping to do. Still have baking to do. Last week was a busy week. Between the kids school events, work and just trying to fit things in. Gosh, wish I had another week to work with. Been receiving some ornaments from the swaps I signed up for. Some beautiful ornaments. Such talented ladies out there. They are all hanging on my tree.

I also been sending out. Had quite a few to send out. Really enjoyed making them. This was one of the batches I sent out.

When I get a chance, I'll post some more swap pictures. Really need to get off this thing and get some things done. Will be busy making Christmas bark today and cookies. Lots of cookies! My tree is lite and the carols are playing.

Have a Holly Jolly Day!!

The week started out with a blanket of snow. Unusually for us. We never get any snow. Thinking maybe it'll be a bad winter.

Spent most of the week finishing up on some ornaments. Need to get them in the mail this weekend. Thinking of doing some more for our own tree. Some of them came out so cute.

Also going out this weekend will be my Snowman swap and my Secret Santa. Had fun putting together those packages. Something about picking out holiday items. There are so many cute things to put into the packages. Never have a problem making or picking something out. Just hope my partners like their packages.

Today I'll be baking up some cookies. Have a dozen or so plates to make for gifts. So need to get started on that. If anyone has any tried and true cookie recipes to share, would love to have them. I'm always looking for some different cookies to make. Off I go.......

Enjoy your day!

Turned out to be a beautiful day outside. Was able to put up some decorations and lights. The warmer weather does make it easier to do. Plus, that cup of pumpkin latte helped a bit. Which I keep telling myself. Need to stop spending on the little things that add up. Honestly, don't need the extra calories. But I do enjoy it so much.

Wanted to post some pictures. Cant. When I went to take them, my battery needed charging. So the pictures must wait. Been busy working on my swaps and some holiday decorations. Didn't have to spend anything this year on supplies. Had so much from last year and the years prior. Love those kind of projects that don't cost a penny.

Well off I go back outside to finish up. Wishing you all a good day!

Lately I feel that there isn't enough time in the day. With the school events, hockey events, work, the kids after school activities and home. I want to do so much. But, when I get home, I just want to crash. But while having those days. I think of what I want to be doing. Like maybe some sewing. Putting new wallpaper up. Maybe painting the kitchen. Do you know the days I'm talking about? Just no time to yourself kind of days. Well after one of those days, really a couple of those days. I felt like hell. No life in me. Then, the doorbell rang and there was a swap package from Annie. A nice happy surprise for me! Usually, when the doorbell rings, it's for someone else. Not this time. I opened the box with ds. What a wonderful package it was.
Annie, I love everything. Thank you.
It made my day.
It also inspired me to plan my days more and to make time for the things I want to do.
Have a good day!

Thrifty finds

The colors are fading away. After two days of rain and high winds. There are hardly any leaves left on the trees. Which means, need to go and rake. Something I dont want to think about.
Yesterday I had a chance to stop at the thrift stores. My first stop. With baskets to put my cookies in this year. Old ornaments, cards, ribbons and bows. The snowman playing the piano, cute! Ceramic snowmen to plates. $5.00 well spent. Everything was in great shape. Left with a smile on my face.
Thinking, there is another shop on the way home. Should I stop. Yes! When I walked into the store. There it was. On top of a cabinet all lite up. Went right to it. Mine! All for $4.50. Left with another smile on my face. I love the holidays!
Have a great day!

My son had a hockey tournament in Lake Placid,

so we decided to make it a family trip.

Beautiful drive there and back. Only took us 6 hrs.

Mirror Lake

The view from our balcony.

We only had one day of rain.

We all had a wonderful time. It was a great experience for the boys. They were so excited to play on the Olympic rink. I think they are going to remember it for a long time.

Been busy pulling out the Fall decorations. I have boxes and boxes to go through. I'm also one to buy after the holidays and just put it away for next year. Love opening up those boxes to find some goodies.

I received my Fall swap from Melissa. Some cute things. My son had a blast opening up the package and finding all the goodies.

Here are some of the goodies I sent her for my package. We had fun putting it together.

Now it's time to start getting ready for the party at Vanessa's. Should be alot of fun!
