Black Friday?

I had no plans on going out early this year.
Didn't have to stand in the cold, dark night. Waiting with hundreds of other people for a store to open. Wondering, how long before the cops are called this year? This was the first year that I didn't venture out for Black Friday. I know for myself, I didn't miss anything.

I stayed home and started opening my boxes to decorate.

The first box I opened, there he was. Just staring at me with that smile. I couldn't help but smile back. I cant wait to get to the other boxes.

Looking for some lovely fabric? Head on over to retro mummy's blog. She is having a fabric giveaway. Hurry because the giveaway ends Sunday.

Take care!

Happy Thanksgiving

Dont know where to give credit, a friend passed this to me, I'm passing it to you!

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL !
Blessings~

Some great finds this week

I think this pass week, everyone was out shopping. The markets were packed more than normal. Plus there were more sellers there than usually. The weather was just beautiful. We've had some nice warm days. Guess everyone just wanted to get out.

I got all three boxes for $1.00. The vendor wanted a $1.00 a box. But we started talking and at the end of our conversation, he said, how about $1.00 for all three. Now how can I pass that up. What a nice guy. Went to AC Moore today and bought a wreath frame. So guess what I'll be making for the front door!

These three items I found at the thrift shop. The women was unpacking the boxes onto the shelves. I of course couldn't wait for her to unpack the box. So politely asked if I could go through it. She said, of course you can. I did and there he was, wrapped in some old plastic. You knew whoever had him, had him wrapped up for awhile. The plastic was all dusty and all. When I unwrapped him, he was beautiful. Perfect, for $3.00, I grabbed it. The sleigh and the box were 50 cents each. I love that thrift store!

When I came upon this piece at the market. The women had alot of things hanging off of it and on top. I just seen the piece, nothing else. She started at $17, I started at $10. Great shape, no damage, perfect. I didnt really want to go that high. She said $15, I said $12. She said she had to stay firm on the $15, so I said thank you and walked. Then she said, come back, I'll take $12. Happily paid her and walked with a smile. Wipe it all down and with a fresh coat of paint. Would work great in my space.

I just love the shape of this tree. Found it for $1.00. Some small balls for 25cents. Going to change the tree, I'm sure it'll look nice. The 4 red votive holders were 15cents each. Have plans for them! And the candle holder, looks so nice when lite. Score for 50cents

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, how many bells can you have??? As many as you want! Now for 35 cents, how could I pass these all up? I love bells.

While I was out and about this week, dh was kind enough to get my decorations down from the attic. I thought about putting some out around the house. But think I'll wait. Thanksgiving will be here Thursday, I'll enjoy that with my family. Then we'll start after that. But being that tomorrow is going to be warm again. I might just put up some lights outside to get ahead of the game. Every year, I'm usually outside, dressed in layers, freezing, putting up decorations. We'll see.

Did anyone start decorating yet? Or are you waiting till after Thanksgiving?

Take care!

Going out slow.

You know Fall is almost over when the leaves are all dropped. The trees begin to show off more of their branches and more sunlight shines through. You could tell the days are getting shorter, the sun just seems to move faster across the sky. When it rains, just seems more dreary out. I already miss what Fall offered this year. It will always be my favorite time of year.

Handmade Christmas

<

Every Thursday till Christmas. I will be linking up to Abbie of Proverbs 31 Living. She will be hosting a Handmade Christmas. I hope to get some new ideas as well as sharing some.

This week will be my Christmas Bark. Very easy and inexpensive recipe. You will need, 1 sleeve of saltine crackers, 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 (12oz) bag chocolate chips.

Line a baking sheet with foil. I usually grease down the foil so nothing sticks to it. When that is done, fill the baking sheet with a single layer of saltine crackers. Melt the butter in a pan and add the brown sugar. Cook at medium hit for appox. 3 minutes. Pour over saltine crackers, making sure everything is covered. Pop in a 350 degree oven for 15mins.

When it's done, pull it out and pour your chocolate chips all over the tray. Once they start melting. Start spreading it all around. Making an even coat over it all. At this time, if you'd like to add chop nuts, coconut or sprinkles. Then pop it in the fridge until firm. Takes approx. 1-2 hours.

Then pull it out and start taking it apart. Usually breaks up pretty well. Store in airtight container. Make sure it's fairly cool where you store it. Otherwise, it can melt some.

I usually pack these up in the larger Chinese to go containers and tie the recipe to it. The hardest part about this recipe. Not eating it after it's done.

Enjoy!

Thrifty find

Can you believe it. This is the only piece I found from scouring the markets this pass weekend. The weather was beautiful, warm, sunny. So many vendors selling their wares. I really thought I'd score some great finds. But nope, not this weekend. I found that there was alot of junk. Things weren't cleaned, which I think it would make for better sales for some. Some just leave things in the boxes, which I never mind going though. But how many boxes of junk can you go though??

So while I was walking through the aisles and checking out tables. Came across this, a new sewing box for me. It was in perfect shape. The nice guy and I started talking, he wanted $15 for it. I just wanted to pay it right there. I've been looking for one of these for a while. I just kept looking at it, opening and closing. All along while he was packing up his car. Then finally, he said, "make me an offer. I'm actually packing up now and just want to dump things." Well, I offered $5. And he took it. YEAH! I already cleaned it out and filled it up with my sewing supplies. I just love it.

Have you found any good finds lately?

Day After.....

We had lots of snacks and lots of treats. The weather was perfect for the kids. You didn't need a jacket, so you seen everyone costume. I always loved to see all the kids costumes. The little kids are the cutest. Carrying their pumpkins filled with candy. The way they look at all the scary costumes and decorations. Approaching everything with caution.

Then you have the ones, running to house to house. You could see each one of them trying to beat the other to the door. Standing at the door, so when it opens. They will be the first one down the stairs to the next. What are they thinking, there might not be any candy left?? After awhile, they got tired and we all stayed together.

Some houses we visited, had no decorations at all. Some had lights all over with blowups. Some were cute, some were scary. But this one house. WOW! This was their front porch. The gentlemen sitting to the left was handing out the candy. None of the kids would go up there. The creepy music was playing, the lights were going. Then you would see someone come out from behind the front curtain. It was just amazing what they did.

Now it's time to pack everything away till next year. I never knew how many things I had. And yet, tomorrow I'll be hitting the stores to see what's left. :) Love those clearance sales after the holidays. Hope you all had a nice Halloween.

Now for the winner of the giveaway..................ABamaMom, thanks to all who entered.
