Wishing everyone
Peace, Love and Happiness
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Saturday, December 29, 2007

Since I'm home today and I know I wont be going out. Figured, what a good day to start with the clutter. Every year seems to be more and more decorations. Just going to take some down, not all. The tree will be the last to go. Didn't want to, but someone has to. Haven't been doing much at all. Just enjoying the holidays. A bit to much, especially with all the goodies around. I think this year, Susan will be making some resolutions. Not one for them, but thinking this time around, we are going to give it a whirl. See how long I can stick with them. Does anyone really make them and stick with them all through the new year?

Tried a new recipe. Actually, just threw it together. Shepard's Pie.....MMM! Came out okay.

1 lb chop meat, 2 beef soup cubes, pkg frozen vegetables, 1 can of diced tomatoes, mashed potatoes

Brown the chop meat and drain, add can tomatoes, 2 beef soup cubes, stir well. Add the box of frozen vegetables. Heat through. Pour mixture into a greased pie dish. Spread mashed potatoes on top. Heat oven to 350, bake for approx 20-25 mins or until brown.

**Now I used real mashed. I'm sure if you want to use the box, would taste just as tasty.

Enjoy!

Gosh...is that all I have to do today?

Happy Holidays!

Thumbprint cookies ~ 1 pkg of sugar cookies, 1 egg, 1 melted stick butter. Combine well. If the batter is to wet, add some flour until stiff. Roll out into 1" balls. Push down with your finger, not all the way through. Fill with your favorite jam. Bake @375 for approx 8 mins or until lightly brown. Cool on cookie sheet.

This is my misfit bench. Havent really found a home for these things, so I just keep adding to it. Thinking I might keep it this way.

Late for the party..

Finally got back up and running last night. Starting from scratch so I have nothing saved on this computer. Everything was lost. Guess that could be a good thing and guess in a way it's not. Need to just take it one step at a time. Hoping all is well with everyone and your enjoying the holiday season.

Computer Problems

Why me? My computer is down and I don't think I'm getting it back before Friday. While I sit at the library typing away. Never knew how many people come to use the computer. They have a room full of computers and some on the outside of the room. And they are all being used. Are all their computers broken? Do they even have a computer of their own? Who knows. Gee....It would of been a good day to hang home and be on my computer. Already a couple of days and I miss it. Well here is to keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer that I get it back soon. So if your trying to reach me and I'm not getting back to you. This is why. Hope to see you soon.

Vivian's Snowman Swap

I received my snowman swap from Becky. Just look at what she sent.
The Joy sign is a cut out and she put paper to the letters and hat. Embellished it with flowers. Just beautiful. The paper dress was her card. The first paper dress I ever received. Absolutely love it! The snowflake is a wooden one with a button on the front for the face. And the other snowman is made from felt and wool Both are so cute. I really enjoyed my box of goodies. Thank you Becky! You did a wonderful job.

Christmas weekend.....

Did a little of this and did a little of that. One thing for sure, I wont go to the stores on the weekends anymore. It reminded me why I usually don't go out on the weekends. But being that there were some things to do and get. We went out. First we hit Toyland. It's a big to do in town. The seniors do it for the kids and it's just beautiful. They set it up with all wonderful displays of Christmas. All of them are dressed in costumes. There is also a room full
of trains. Sorry about the blurry picture. At the end when your all done walking through. They give out juice and cookies. It's a nice thing that is done every year. And every year its just as nice.

After that we headed over to the library. Book Sale! Fill a plastic bag for $1. What a deal. Got 3 bags of books, which will keep me busy for awhile. It took us about an hour just to go through them all.
Then after that we came home and packed everything away. We pulled out some ornaments to paint. We painted most of last night and we had a blast. I'm in a couple of ornament swaps, so some will come in handy. The others will be for the tree.

Around the house....

I found this Santa in the clearance section in Walmart. He was a kit and it was only $3.00. How could you pass that up? His tree lights up.

This is the cart in my kitchen. The snowman with the lantern lights up.
I've had him for ages. Have to get a candle for the centerpiece.

This is the top of my mantel. Haven't really decided what to do here. Just put the things on top due to not having room for them someplace else. Kind of like the snowmen there.

Well now it's time to go help dh outside. He is busy putting the lights up on the tree. I know he likes to check each light to make sure it works. Usually takes him hours to finish this chore. And to think, he is not a fan of decorations.

Pay It Forward

Came across Vickie's blog, with her Pay It Forward post. What a nice thing to do. I could do that. I love to make things. Especially for others. So here it goes......

"I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

How easy is that? Are you up to it??
Getting caught up around here. Pulled all the holiday decorations out of the attic. There are boxes all over the place. Need some organization. I love just pulling things out and looking at all the items. Some were bought, some gifts. Such memories. Cant wait till everything is in place. The tree is up and ready to decorate!

One by one....

Getting around to working on my ornament swap. Have many to make. Signed up to 3 different ones. Don't know yet if they'll all be the same. I'm one for change at a certain point. Making many of one thing, kind of gets boring. At least for me anyway. Cant wait to see them all done. I just love snowmen.

This weekend we went to an estate sale. First time for us. We were driving and came upon a sign. So decided why not. The wares and tares that were in this house were unbelievable. I could only imagine what was in it before we got there. I'm sure there was much more stuff then what we came upon. I came home with some kitchen utensils and some more glass jars. Like I need more jars. My husband calls them dust collectors. Hey, it's my dust, so I'll collect. Then we stumbled out to the garage and we seen it sitting there. A sewing machine. There was so many things all around it and on it. So we cleaned it off and the tag on it said it was only $1. What a find. Its going to take alot of work to fix it up. That's the fun of it. Now I just need to find a place for it.

Tis' The Season..

To start pulling out the stash! Was suppose to head out to the craft/fabric store the other day. But never made it. So went through some things to see what I wanted to use and to see what I had. Pulled out a couple of pieces of fabric that I might use. But really need to get to the fabric store to see what they have. I always love walking through and looking at all the beautiful bolts they have. I could spend a whole day there. Saturday is the day! I also have a coupon to use. Which gives me more of an incentive to get there. Gosh, wish it was today!

Also wanted to spread the word about the Christmas Party! It'll be held at Debb Gathering Place on December 18Th. Check out her site for details. Should be alot of fun.

Need to catch up here. Haven't been on in a couple of days. Just due to not feeling well. Had a constant headache and my body just hurt. Maybe I just needed some rest. Which I'm happy to say, I did get some. Today I felt much better. Caught up around the house and made a pot of turkey soup.
With the chill in the air, warmed us right up.

I also made some brownie peanut butter bites. They were easy. The cleanup was a snap. Had some mini muffin liners with pumpkins on them. Figured I'd use them up. Had to hide them. DH is working and if I kept them out. The kids would of ate them all.

Then to top it off, had some apples I had to use. So tried some baked ones. This is the first time that I made them. Didn't follow any recipe. I made them with dried cranberries and walnuts. Thinking next time, have to add some more liquid. But for the first time, didn't come out that bad.

Now it's time to fold all the laundry that I did today. Going to make a cup a tea while I do that. Then maybe just read and catch up on my magazines.
Enjoy your evening.

Day before Halloween....

it up a bit. Chilly start this morning. Only a start for the days to come.
Had to clean up out front, so the kids can come knocking tomorrow. Want to add some lights around the door. Have to wait till my little one gets home from school. Made me promise. He wants to help with the goody bags and such. We'll be making some witches hats for his party tomorrow. Fun, fun, fun. Also thinking about some brownie bites.

Up early today....

So what did I do? Made some pumpkins. Had a bunch of scrap material that needed to be used. So I made pumpkins. The first was easy. One piece, sew it up and stuff. I loved the material on this one. All types of small leaves. Had it around forever, knew it would be put to good use.
The other pumpkin was sewn in sections. That took me a bit, due to stopping for coffee and taking care of the dogs. But once I got moving. Poof, out came another one. The stem and the leaf were also made out of material. I had this pattern also laying around. Gosh, the things you could make without going broke.

I guess I'll just go and see what else I could dig out of the box of scraps I have. Another rainy day, good day to stay inside and work on some projects.

Rain

Listening to it hit the gutters on the house. Listening to the sound it makes while it hits the ground. Listening to it as it falls through the trees and touches the leaves. There is just something about it, after its done, everything just seems so clean and fresh. I'm one that never minds the rain.

Missing alot

Didn't think I'd miss this thing so much. My computer crashed, so had to bring it to the shop. After a few days of going without. Glad to have it back. Did get much needed things done around the house. My windows are all cleaned. Pool covered. Winter clothes down and washing. Gosh, the things I've done before I got this computer. Always got done. Why is it, you get on here, and you don't want to get off!

TGIF!

Another week come and gone. Fall is definitely in the air and the colors of the leaves are starting to change. In the beginning of the week you wouldn't think so. Hit 90 on Monday. Going down in the 40's tonight.

Goodbye warm weather, hello Fall!

Where do the days go?

For the last couple of days, havent had time to do anything. Between running the kids around, attending meetings and work. Just seems to be to much at times. Then when night comes around, I just want to pass out and not do anything. I sometimes think to myself. If I only, what if, or should I do? Then reality hits and I'm back.

I guess the only thing I can do is take one day at a time. Things will get done. Might not be today, but it will get done.

Friday, October 5, 2007

Happy Birthday!

And we're having a party. My little turned nine on Monday. With all the things going on, just didn't have time during the week to do anything. So today, after school. I have his friends coming over. He doesn't even know about it! Surprise!

I picked up some pumpkins to decorate and of course, a pinata. Lots of candy! Then I thought, they love to play with swords and all. Hit the dollar stores found some and I have tons of felt. So we'll be making each one a cape. Fun! Fun! Fun! Cant wait to see the surprise on his face!

Middle of the week,

and it's the longest week ever. My car is being picked up today and bought back to my driveway tonight. Need to clean it out before I donate it. Dont know to who yet. Havent even decided what to do about a car. I dont want another car payment. Not yet anyway. Really would love my car back. But hey, cant get everything we want, right? I could dream though.

Goodnight

See you in the morning!

Things happen.....

So they say. Is there really a reason as why to things happen? I always thought so. Until yesterday. My car died. When it did. I asked myself, why? Couldnt find an answer. Today they tell me I need a new motor. $2500, is it worth it? 157, 000 miles and 7 years later. I dont think so and that's what I'm being told. My car is an asset to me. And today while being in the house. I felt it, not having one. I'm thankful that I've always had a car. Never not been without one until now.

Handmade Happiness

I received this wonderful swap from Natalie aka Papermuse. Everything in the package was handmade. It is all so nice. My little one wants it so bad. Not this one, mommy is keeping it.

Thanks Natalie for a wonderful package. I love it!

Last day of the month

And it's a beautiful one. Even though I have a afternoon shift at work today. Still trying to plug in things here. Made some brownies and cookies to bring in with me today. Also going to put in some time on my Halloween swap. If not this morning, tonight will have to do. Have a couple of swaps to get in the mail this week. Going to be a busy week ahead.

Where is the rain?

Was suppose to have some storms yesterday and last night. Was suppose to be raining this morning. Well, guess what? It's not raining at all. I sure hope we get some. Sure do need it.

The leaves are starting to change color. I noticed on one of the trees out front today. The colors are just going to be popping soon. Cant wait! I'm one for just getting in the car and driving when it does.

Where's Fall?

They say it's going up into the 80's today and 90's tomorrow. I guess summer isn't ready to go yet. It usually stays like this until the middle of October. I remember on Halloween one year, it was in the 80's. We seem to be jumping over Fall and right into winter. Which I'm not ready for.

Tomorrow I go for my postal exam in the morning. Wish me luck. It's time to get back out into the work field. I didn't want to go back behind a desk, in a office. So thought this would be different. I've been out of the work field for over 14 years. Sure, I do have a part time job being a server, but dh doesn't call it a real job. I guess, once I get benefits and paid holidays, then maybe that'll be real to him. I'm kind of looking forward to it. To get a paycheck, that'll be something different!

Happy Fall!

What a beautiful day it is for the first day. Chloe is doing much better. She is moving along fine. Very happy about that. Today I worked on some unfinished projects. Started in the kitchen with some Zucchini Bread. Also baked a chocolate cake. But no icing. So need to make some from scratch. Would love to get a good icing recipe. Havent come across one yet.

Then I pulled out the sewing machine and set up my work area. Pulled out my Halloween stuff and meet Harry. Need to add something, dont know what it is, but will find it. I think I'm going to hang him on a door. I have so much odds and ends with material. I love not having to pay for something.

Then I started pulling out some wood items I had just laying around. Made sure I hade sponge brushes and off I went. Lots of pumpkins, one ghost. I'm going to dot them around the yard. Havent decided weather to just paint some leaves at the stem and shade them. Or put some faces on them. We'll see.

My baby, Chloe

She is 8 mos old. We adopted her from an animal organization. They said they found her in a box, with her siblings. How could we not? She keeps us on our toes. Always into something. And something she got into. She went out this morning. Then came in, got sick. Lots of grass. Then she threw up food. Started crying while laying down, just wasnt herself. Took her to the vet. They took an xray. Said she must have an obstruction. So they pumped her up with fluids and gave her a pain shot. They said watch her for a day or two. We came home and she went to the bathroom, which they said was a good sign. I hope she's well soon. I miss my Chloe.

Friday

Something different to everyone. End of a work week, beginning of a great weekend. Me? Just another day.

Pulled Pork - Slow cooker

1 (3.5lb) boneless pork roast
1 cup water
1 (18oz) bottle barbecue sauce

1/2 tsp pepper

Trim the fat from around the roast. Place the roast and a cup of water in the crock pot. Cover and cook on high approx 5-6 hours or until tender. Drain pork, discard all liquid. Return pork to cooker and shred. Add bbq sauce, brown sugar, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Reduce temperature to low heat. Cook approx 1 hour.

My little corner...

I finally finished. Had this spot in the corner of the patio. Could never keep grass there, just that one bush. So figured, mulch it all and put some odds and ends in there. We like to sit outside. Every time I would look that way, it was just asking for something. My husband made the walkway out of planking. I did have a vine going up the pole. That was before Chloe decided she would like to chew on it.

Monday, September 17, 2007

3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tbl butter
480z. chicken broth

Inspiration........

The sun coming up in the morning. Reading a magazine. The kids running around playing. A trip to the craft store. Colors of the rainbow. Taking a ride through the country.

Sunday Morning

What a beautiful morning it is! This is the first morning I had to put on a jacket to go hang up some laundry. The crisp smell of Fall is in the air. Not suppose to get out of the 70's today. Good baking weather! I started this morning with some oatmeal raisin, my favorite. Then I'll go on to some sugar and regular chocolate chip. Also have some pumpkin pies in mind. The kids have been asking for them. MMMM! The kitchen is going to smell wonderful today.

Friday already?

Where do the days go? Sometimes, I feel that they just slip on by. Try to get things done, but seems to never be enough time in the day to do them. Someday, I will catch up. Until then, my "to do list", will keep running over into the next day. Have a long one today, better get to it.

Happy Friday!

Rainy Day

All day, off and on. Coming down in buckets at times. My dad loved rainy days. He would just sit on the porch with his cigar, coffee and newspaper. You would always know where he was. Just follow that cigar smell. He would just sit and tell stories of his family and friends. We would all just sit and listen. Laughing most of the time. I loved rainy days. I still do. I just wish he was sitting on that porch.

Sweet Dreams

Can you hear it? How quiet it is. The first time the kids have been in bed before 10:00 pm all summer. How I missed this time. This is the time I usually have for myself to do things. Weather it was to scrapbook, crochet, watch my favorite tv program or even read a book. Anything I wanted to do, I could do. In peace and quiet.

Gosh, I really love school!

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Just another day.

Got up early this morning. Wanted to get to the market early. Early bird catches the worm. Well, not today. Got some tennis balls for the dogs and a lighted pumpkin for me. That was it. Saw a couple of nice bottles, but thought he wanted to much for them. Would'nt go down in price. So I walked. Funny how some sellers will go down in price. While, some wont budge a dime. I love to always try and chew them down a couple of bucks. Makes me happy.

Then for the rest of the day. Cleaned the garage. I have a flea market myself next weekend. Going to try and sell some of my wares. My little one will go and sell some of his toys. He will be content to sit all day and wait for a sale. My mom comes and sits with us and my brother also will be next to us with his kids. I guess its one of our ways of getting together.

Oh, by the way, I turned 43 today. No party, no decorations, no gifts. Just wishes from friends and family. Which is okay with me. I had a beautiful day today.

Saturday, September 1, 2007

Saturday comes and goes

Was up around 5:30, was out the door by 6:00. Had to tend to the ducks and pool. Figured those would take me the most time to do. Was all done with everything by 11:00. Still doing the laundry. Have tons of blankets that I started pulling out. Wanted to get them done before the cool weather sets in. Trying to stay on top of things.

Now its time to start dinner. Have my meat already on sticks. My foil potatoes are all wrapped up. We'll have a late dinner due to hubby working today. Dont mind. Usually have everything done by the time he gets in. Then serve it buffet style, paper plates and all. When its that late at night, who wants to do dishes??

Took a couple of pictures to post, but something is wrong with the computer. Says I need some pc card. Dont know where this came from, been downloading for awhile with no problems. Always something. When I asked the kids. You know what there answer was....wasnt me! How did I know that? Now just something else to add to my to do list.

Apple Crisp

6 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1tsp cinnamon
1 TBL water
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup oats
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened

Place apples in ungreased 2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon, water and lemon juice. For crumb topping mix flour, butter, oats and sugar. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Also good with peaches and nectarines.

Food for thought

Rye Dip

1 (16oz) container of sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 package chipped beef, cut into small pieces
1 teaspoon fresh dill

Mix all ingredients together well, let chill for several hours. Serve with favorite crackers

Friday is here!

Where did the summer go? Cant believe we are at the end of it. Boy, I'm going to miss it. Going to miss the trips to the lake. The days at the beach and the boardwalk. The days in the pool just laying on the float. No schedules, no place to be.

Tell you what I'm not going to miss. The cleaning of the pool. Picking up the towels that they didnt hang up. The tons of clothes I always had to wash because they were always to lazy to put their suits on. Making alot of wet clothes! Those Xbox nights the boys had, which kept me up sometimes till 3:00 a.m. The cleaning of all the stuff coming back from the beach. Cleaning of the car everyday. Will they ever know what that empty brown bag in the back that says "garbage" on it, means?

I will always have the fun memories of summer. Weather I did alot or nothing at all. Everything was worth it. It was for my family.
